Ukraine film ‘ We are Here. We are Close’ to vie at Fajr

Ukrainian film ‘We are Here. We are Close’ is to compete at the 38th Fajr International Film Festival in Iran.

Ukrainian film ‘We are Here. We are Close’ by prominent director Roman Balayan is set to compete at the 38th Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF) in Iran.

‘We are Here. We are Close’ will take part in the international section of FIFF.

Roman Balayan is a Ukrainian-Armenian film director who considers himself as the student of the prominent international director, Sergei Parajanov.

‘We are Here. We are Close’ tells the story of “Alex, an experienced surgeon, who makes a mistake in the diagnosis of his seven-year-old godson. The boy dies on the operating table,” according to a synopsis for the film.

The film is about “how misdiagnosis, not necessarily in medical terms, complicates and corrupts lives but can also bring the grace of enlightenment”.

This year, the Fajr International Film Festival will open in Tehran on May 26 and run until June 2.

The 2020 edition of the FIFF was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Since its establishment in 1982, the Fajr Film Festival has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.

The 39th edition of the national version of the festival was held on January 31-February 10.
